In 1945, British photographer John Russell Brown visited Leipzig to document the destruction and suffering that had befallen the city. His photographs, which are collected in the book "In Leipzig Danach" ("In Leipzig Afterwards"),offer a haunting glimpse of a city struggling to come to terms with its past.

Brown's photographs are not only a historical record, but also a work of art. He captures the beauty and resilience of the human spirit amidst the devastation. His photographs are full of light and shadow, hope and despair. They are a testament to the power of photography to bear witness to the human condition.

In Leipzig Danach is a must-see for anyone interested in German history, photography, or the human condition. It is a powerful and moving tribute to a city that has endured unimaginable suffering.
